President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s defence sector by expanding the local production of military equipment and hardware.
Speaking during the 2026 Nigerian Army Day Celebration, the President said his administration remains focused on building a self-reliant defence industry capable of meeting the operational needs of the country’s armed forces while reducing dependence on foreign military supplies.
Tinubu noted that increased investment in local defence manufacturing would enhance national security, improve the capacity of the Nigerian Armed Forces, create employment opportunities, and encourage technological innovation within the defence sector.
He also commended the Nigerian Army for its dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity, combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats across the country.
The President reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve to continue supporting the military through improved funding, modern equipment, enhanced training, and strategic partnerships aimed at ensuring lasting peace and security nationwide.
