2027: Yari’s Camp Denies Sponsoring ADC Governorship Candidate in Zamfara

The camp of former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdul’aziz Yari, has dismissed claims that he is sponsoring the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Bilyaminu Yusuf Shinkafi, describing the allegation as a politically motivated attempt to damage his reputation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a former national secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and a Zamfara North senatorial aspirant, said the allegation was aimed at discrediting Yari following his appointment as Director-General of President Bola Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council.
He described the claim as “mischievous, false” and the handiwork of political opponents seeking to undermine the former governor.
Shinkafi explained that Bilyaminu was related to Yari through his wife’s family but maintained that the relationship did not mean the senator was sponsoring his governorship ambition.
He further disclosed that the ADC candidate had earlier sought the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest for the Zamfara North senatorial seat but was disqualified by the party’s screening committee before eventually defecting to the ADC.
