Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has pledged to serve only one four-year term if elected president of Nigeria in the 2027 general election.
Makinde, who is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), made the promise on Saturday during a party town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State.
He also promised to establish an inclusive government and address major challenges facing the country, including insecurity and poverty.
According to the report, Makinde’s pledge comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections. His position is similar to that of Peter Obi, who has also promised to serve a single four-year term if elected president.
The development has renewed discussions about Nigeria’s political future, regional power-sharing and the commitments presidential candidates are making to voters.
