IGP’s Convoy Accused of Damaging Barricades at Port Harcourt Airport

The convoy of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has been accused of damaging security barricades at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa, Rivers State.

According to a report published by P.M. News on Sunday, the incident occurred on October 13, 2026, when the police chief visited Rivers State for official engagements.

The report stated that Disu visited Governor Siminalayi Fubara at Government House in Port Harcourt and interacted with officers of the Rivers State Police Command.

During the visit, the Inspector-General reportedly discussed preparations for the 2027 general elections and the importance of maintaining security across the state.

However, the report alleged that his convoy damaged iron barricades operated by Atlantic Biscoe Nigeria Ltd., the company responsible for managing toll-gate revenue services at the airport.

A representative of the company reportedly claimed that the incident caused financial losses and raised concerns about compliance with airport security procedures.

The report also stated that the convoy allegedly used a route other than the designated exit for high-ranking security officials.

P.M. News said it contacted the Rivers State Police Command and the Inspector-General’s office for comments but had not received a response at the time of publication.

The allegations have raised questions about security procedures and accountability at one of the state’s major transport facilities. An official response would be necessary to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
