FINANCIAL REGULATOR CHANGES IPO RULES

The UK Financial Conduct Authority{FCA} has announced a significant changes to the ruler governing Initial Public Offering {IPOs}.The goal is to make London a faster, cheaper and more attractive placed for companies to list their shares on the stocks market. Well the biggest reform is the removal of thew mandatory seven-day waiting periods between:

.Publication of a company IPO prospectus and the Publication of research reports by the investment banks involved in the IPO

The FCA decision is largely a response to the long-term decline in London stock market, some important statistics provide context and valuable information:

. Only about 9 billions dollars was raised through UK equity capital market in the first half of 2026, representing just 1.2% of global equity fundraising, this left the UK behind several Europeans countries and market

.The FCA own data shows that IPO activity in Q1 2026 was subdued, although it was slightly higher than Q1 2025. the regulator attributes the weal activity largely to geopolitical and macroeconomic activity

this figures help explain why the UK is reforming its IPO rules.
