Benjamin Fedrick Returns To Competitve Action After Nine-Month Injury Layoff

Nigeria international defender Benjamin Fredrick has made his return to competitive football after spending nine months on the sidelines with an injury.

The 21-year-old featured for Brentford Under-21 as they secured an impressive 5-1 victory over Sunderland Under-21 in a Premier League 2 encounter.

Fredrick suffered a meniscus injury in November while on loan at Belgian side FC Dender. The injury required surgery and brought his loan spell and season to an early conclusion.

After completing his recovery, the young defender returned to Brentford and was included in the club’s first-team setup.

However, the English club took a cautious approach to his comeback, allowing him to complete his rehabilitation before gradually introducing him to contact training and competitive football.

Fredrick eventually made his long-awaited return by playing 45 minutes in Brentford U21’s emphatic win over Sunderland U21.

His comeback represents an important step in his preparations for the new season, with the defender now aiming to regain full fitness and work his way back into Brentford’s first-team plans.

Brentford also celebrated Fredrick’s return on its social media platforms following the match.

The defender’s return will be welcomed by both Brentford and Nigeria as he continues his journey back to full fitness and looks to establish himself as an important member of the first-team squad.
