The World Bank Group has approved a $1.25 billion partnership package to support Nigeria’s 2026–2032 National Development Plan, reinforcing efforts to accelerate economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen critical sectors of the economy.

According to the development institution, the funding will support key priorities including employment generation, private sector investment, energy reforms, agricultural productivity, digital infrastructure, and human capital development.

The initiative is expected to improve access to financing for businesses, expand opportunities for entrepreneurs, modernize infrastructure, and enhance productivity across strategic sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Government officials said the partnership aligns with ongoing economic reforms aimed at promoting inclusive growth, attracting investment, reducing poverty, and improving the quality of life for millions of Nigerians.

The World Bank noted that the programme will be implemented in collaboration with federal and state governments, as well as development partners, to ensure transparency, accountability, and measurable development outcomes over the implementation period.

The partnership is expected to play a significant role in advancing Nigeria’s long-term development agenda by supporting sustainable economic growth, expanding employment opportunities, and strengthening the country’s resilience to future economic challenges.
