Tinubu’s New Electricity Metering Policy to Create 5,000 Jobs

The Federal Government has announced that President ‘s new electricity metering policy is expected to generate about 5,000 jobs for meter installers, technicians, and other skilled professionals across Nigeria.

The initiative forms part of the administration’s broader efforts to improve electricity service delivery, eliminate estimated billing, and ensure that more households and businesses have access to accurate and transparent electricity metering.

Government officials said the programme will accelerate the deployment of prepaid meters nationwide while creating employment opportunities for trained technicians involved in meter installation, maintenance, and related technical services.

The policy is also expected to strengthen consumer confidence in the power sector by reducing billing disputes, improving revenue collection for electricity distribution companies, and supporting ongoing reforms aimed at delivering a more reliable and efficient electricity supply.

Authorities have expressed confidence that the initiative will contribute to economic growth through job creation while advancing the government’s commitment to providing fair and transparent electricity billing for Nigerians.
