U.S. Embassy in Abuja Closes for Independence Day Holiday

The United States Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos are closed today, July 3, in observance of the United States’ Independence Day holiday.

According to the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, all routine consular and embassy services, including visa appointments and other public-facing operations, have been suspended for the day. Normal operations are expected to resume after the holiday.

The embassy advised individuals with scheduled appointments or inquiries to consult its official communication channels for the latest information on service availability and any rescheduled appointments.

The annual observance marks the adoption of the U.S. Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, a national holiday celebrated across the United States.

Emergency assistance for U.S. citizens in Nigeria will remain available through the embassy’s designated emergency contact channels throughout the holiday period.
